Consider for a moment the beautiful verse that closes the beloved Christmas carol In the Bleak Midwinter.
What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man
I would do my part,
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.
This theme has been expressed numerous times in Christian literature and song. In The Little Drummer Boy the young boy gives his gift to the newborn king the only way he knows how, by playing his very best on his drum. In the short stories Juggler of Notre Dame and Why the Chimes Rang the same theme is expressed. The size and form of the gift is not important. What matters is that it comes from the heart.
Give your gift to the Savior by giving your love to others. For as you do this, you do unto Him.
Merry Christmas.
