MADNESS MAGNIFIED

TDS (The Trump Derangement Syndrome) reached a new level of absurdity as a small group of citizens gathered near the Lincoln memorial reflecting pool to protest the removal of scum.   They described their mission as an attempt to protect the algae.

Unfortunately, the hatred of Trump runs so deep that anything he does is likely to evoke some sort of protest.  The President does very little to soften and improve his image.  At times he appears to take delight in taunting the opposition.  Divisions in our body politic run deep and often take on the character of internecine warfare.  Under these circumstances, reasoned debate and political compromise become almost impossible.

I’m often disturbed by the arrogant and divisive way in which Trump attempts to achieve his objectives.  I understand that he was a great admirer of the late Norman Vincent Peale and was exposed to Dale Carnegie.  However, Carnegie’s ideas as expressed in How to Win Friends and Influence People does not seem to have taken root in Trump’s philosophy.  Instead, Trump developed his own approach, His “Art of the Deal” emphasizes aggressively taking the upper hand and “crushing” opponents to secure a win.  Rather than Carnegie’s gentle persuasion, Trump relies on conflict and aggressive public statements.  Working from a position of strength, Trump’s methods usually prove to be very effective, but they often leave a bitter aftertaste.

Nevertheless, I am a firm supporter of the Trump presidency.  I approve most of his initiatives and consider them vital to our nation’s future health.  Among them are the following:

0 – Maximizing America energy production (oil, gas, coal).

0 – Reviving American manufacturing by restoring some balance to our foreign trade through tariffs, etc

0 – Ensuring the rebirth of strategically important industries such as steel, shipbuilding, etc.

0 – Reducing our dependence on foreign suppliers for critical materials.

0 – Strengthening and revitalizing the American military.

0 – Closing our borders to illegal immigration.

0 – Removing non-citizen criminals from our nation.

0 – Reducing crime and working to clean-up American cities.

0 – Unleashing a long overdue war against fraud and waste in federally financed programs.

0 – Ending the Iranian nuclear threat.

0 – Using America’s power and influence in a constant quest for peace around the world.

0 – Fighting for traditional Judeo-Christian values in opposition to new-age morality.

0 – Encouraging familial growth and investment.

How could I not indorse that sort of agenda?  I’ll put up with all of Trump’s warts in order to achieve it.  I pray for success.  And what about the Democrats?  They have gone off the cliff, offering nothing but opposition.  They take the opposite side on nearly all issues that I think important, and I can think of no Democrat Party leader I could support who has any chance of receiving the party’s nomination.
