A Status Report

Since posting my last article I have been very busy preparing for a change of residence. I’m moving to a nearby senior living community. I’ve been in my present residence almost twenty-two years, and it is amazing how much junk can be accumulated in that period of time. And it’s not all junk. It takes many hours to sift through it and decide what to keep, what to give to others, and what to throw away. I’m still working on it.

Now, just two weeks before the election, I thought it would be good to give a status report.

I’m persuaded that Kamala Harris is perhaps the most unqualified person to ever run for President. If elected I think she would be manipulated by several high-powered interest groups — including the globalist elites, the teacher’s unions, and the anti-traditionalist LGBT cabal. Under a Harris administration the border would remain open, and there would be the likelihood of increasing crime and chaos. The economy would suffer, and our Judeo-Christian ethos would experience increasing pressure and erosion.

Fortunately, I do not believe that she will be elected. She has run a terrible campaign and refuses to explain her position on the major issues. It is hard to understand how Intelligent people could vote for Kamala except as a protest vote against Trump.

Trump is likely to be elected again as President. The odds appear to be shifting strongly in his favor.

Trump has been vilified by his political opponents, by the media, and by academia. He has been labeled as a racist, a misogynist, a Hitler, a Mussolini, and a Stalin. He has been targeted by left-wing prosecutors and justices and subjected to relentless legal persecution in cases that would never have been brought to trial if Trump had not challenged the establishment. He was impeached twice on largely spurious charges.

I know his enemies hate him, but do they actually believe all the vicious things they say about him? I doubt it. Where is the evidence? Trump was our chief executive for four years, and he made no effort to establish a dictatorship or jail members of the oppositrion. True, he fought against confirming the results of the election, but I’m persuaded that he was honestly convinced that he had been cheated. Despite charges by the January 6 “star chamber” committee, Trump did not call for insurrection and the overthrow of public order.

Trump says many things, promises much, and is a serial exaggerator. He gives his opponents a lot of ammunition with which they could honestly attack him. Instead, they resort to lies. They talk about Charlottesville and “blood bath”, fully knowing that they twist Trump’s words totally out of context. They lie about his positions on abortion, social security, and medicare. Unfortunately, the mainstream media propagates these same lies, causing him to label them “fake news”.

The extreme left and the media portray Trump as a monster. Iran fears his return to power. So do the Mexican cartels. In this environment, the former President’s life is in constant danger. There have been two assassination attempts already., and I doubt that a life insurance company would wish to underwrite a policy on this man. Think of the chaos that would erupt should Trump be assassinated. Unfortunately, the danger will not end should he be elected and inaugerated. These are dangerous times.

I truly believe that Trump is the right man to lead our country at this moment. If elected, however, he will face immense problems that appear almost unsolvable. He talks of all sorts of tax cuts to grow the economy, but the national debt is 37 trillion dollars and growing. At some point it will become unsustainable. There are problems in the Middle East, in Ukraine and in Southeast Asia. The borders must be repaired and the immigration issues addressed. A sense of national unity and confidence needs to be restored.

These problems may be beyond solution by Trump or any other leader, but with Trump at the helm there might be a slight glimmer of hope. With Kamala Harris, there would be none.

Of course, when I speak of hope I am primarily speaking of near-term economic prospects. In the long run we will somehow survive.

Keep praying, and never give up!
