Rebirth

A few years ago, a student of history wrote the following:

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from thebeginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;

>From spiritual faith to great courage;

>From courage to liberty;

>From liberty to abundance;

>From abundance to complacency;

>From complacency to apathy;

>From apathy to dependence;

>From dependence back into bondage.”

“Our obituary follows: “The United States of America. Born 1776, Died 201?.”

The sad ending predicted by this writer need not come to pass.  We have been forewarned, and we can still turn things around. The solution is obvious.  If we are to survive much longer, there must be a revival of spiritual faith along with a renewed sense of vision.

Fear the Lord your God.  Love and respect one another. Then witness a new birth of freedom and progress.

As for vision, remember the dreams of our founding fathers.  “Without a vision, my people perish.”

  1. I shall stay with God. He wins. And what ‘civilization’ would have been a joy to its citizens except that its leaders also stood in God’s Word? We did that for a while.
