What fools we mortals be!

On my 10^th birthday in 1939 I witnessed a madman lead his nation into a war of conquest that eventually consumed the lives of more than 50 million men, women and children.

Short days ago, another godless madman sent his armies into a neighboring nation, causing death and destruction and raising the threat of another world conflict.

Will we ever learn? 

The Bible talks of wars and rumors of wars until the very end of time — the day of our Lord’s return.

Do not despair. Love one another, and place your faith and hope in Jesus, our Savior.

          Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife;

          Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine.

          Mortals join the mighty chorus, which the morning stars began;

          Father love is reigning o’er us, brother love binds man to man.

          Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife;

Joyful music leads us sunward in the triumph song of life.
