A conservative news source announced that House Republican leaders are planning at least seven investigations of the Democrat controlled Congress should they regain control of the House in 2022.
I can understand why the Republicans would wish to do this. Some recent Democrat party actions have been an affront to good sense and good government, and House Democrats have treated minority party members abominably. But I hate to see a tit for tat. Shall we endure the same sort of nonsense every time the Congress changes hands? Let’s forget revenge politics and concentrate on producing the very best legislative agenda for our country.
And sometimes the best legislation is none at all.
Your point is reasonable. Yet, fear of consequences deters people inclined to do wrong. And their are too few consequences for increasingly evil actions.
Many social posts I read make it clear people grow beyond skeptical that those of wealth and power will be held accountable. Ever.
That drives the population to be vigilantes, cry out for tit for tat investigations and witch hunts.
I watched Kim Potter kill Durante Wright and Mike Byrd kill Ashli Babbitt and the process of Justice seems skewed . I don’t see either as premeditated murder but both are egregious. Still where is compassion? Are consequences equally appropriate?
I compare consequence to Nixon versus Clintin’s perjury. And Biden quid pro quo to Trump charges. Taxes are used to pay legal fees for sexual suits against legislatures.
I don’t feel like writing more.
Can we ever have equitable behavior in our ‘justice’ system? Past skepticism is cynicism. And then what?
