Here are my observations on today’s news.

Trump is trying desperately to hang on to any peace prospect in the Middle East. Time is running short if he is to achieve a satisfactory settlement with Iran, open the Ormuz bottleneck, and reduce gas prices prior to our November midterms. The deep animosity and distrust between Israel and Iran complicate his peace efforts, and he may be forced to renew air strikes in an attempt to compel Iranian concessions.

The curren electoral fiasco in California is solid proof that mail-in balloting cannot be trusted. We should return to in-person voting with required voter IDs.

The Democrat’s choice of candidates in several states confirms that the party has become radicalized. The party needs to experience complete reformation and renewal. Failing that, any Democrat with good sense should either convert to Republican or work to create a new political party.
