Wikipedia

I appreciate Wikipedia and have found it to be an excellent source of information on a great variety of subjects. Unfortunately, I also find that Wikipedia is biased in its coverage of the American political scene. It has a strong leftward or progressive slant.

As one example, read the following paragraph. It appears in Wikipedia’s article on the January 6 committee.

“After refusing to concede the 2020 presidential election  and perpetuating false and disproven claims of widespread election fraud,  then-President Donald Trump summoned a mob of protestors to the Capitol as the electoral votes were being counted  on January 6, 2021. During the House Committee’s subsequent investigation, people gave sworn testimony that Trump knew he lost the election. The Committee subpoenaed his testimony, identifying him as ‘the center of the first and only effort by any U.S. President to overturn an election and obstruct the peaceful transition of power’. He sued the committee and never testified.”

As you see, the Wikipedia article finds Trump guilty and condemns him without providing any exculpatory information.

For example:

o- There were serious irregularities during the 2020 campaign. The press of time did not permit these to be thoroughly investigated. Because of the COVID epidemic, American citizens voted in unprecedented numbers. Much of the increase may be attributed to high mail voting rates in states that were not equipped to handle the volume, and hundreds of millions of dollars were poured into an effort to influence the outcome. The situation was rife with opportunities for skulduggery, and there is some evidence that the Democrats used unorthodox, unethical and possibly illegal tactics to get out the massive vote. Note that in 2024 the Republicans put a great emphasis on poll integrity, and the total popular vote for Presidential candidates was several million less than in 2020.

o- It can be proved that government entities along with media colluded in suppressing information about the Biden family that may have completely derailed Joseph Biden’s campaign and prevented his election.

o- There were countervailing reports that Trump was convinced that he had won the 2020 election. The committee ignored this evidence, but Trump has consistently maintained that he was cheated out of victory.

o- The “mob of protesters” described by Wikipedia included thousands of peaceful, patriotic citizens who came to express their support of President Trump and concerns about the way the election was conducted. Based on the number of protesters who were later charged with actual violence, it appears that comparatively few were there with malevolent intent.

o- The House select committee was irregularly and improperly created without proper minority party representation. Its findings and subpoenas should have had no weight.

Use Wikipedia as you wish, but examine its articles on controversial political subjects with full knowledge of its liberal, progressive twist.
