I like to see two vibrant political parties competing for leadership in the United States.  That way, no matter who wins, our future may be considered somewhat secure.  Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.  The once great Democrat Party has gone off the rails.

In 2020 the Democrats nominated a person who was totally unfit to become President.  Biden was a professional political hack with limited accomplishments, and he was bathed in an aura of mendacity.  He was also showing early signs of dementia.  I’m certain that many party insiders knew the truth, but they chose to present Biden as a healing uniter.  What utter nonsense!  Surely the Democrats could have chosen a better candidate.  To compound their error, they accepted a vice-Presidential candidate who was even less qualified than Biden.  How could Democrat Party leaders allow this to happen?

Somehow Biden was elected as President, and he pursued policies that have been terribly destructive to our nation.  Inflation has reached 50 year highs, millions of unvetted immigrants have been allowed to violate our borders, and rising crime rates make many of our large cities almost unlivable.  Democrat legislators in the House and Senate backed Biden’s foolish programs almost 100 percent.

Now the Democrats finally admit what many Americans have realized for months or years.  Biden is showing all the signs of dementia, and he will not be reelected President.  Unfortunately, it appears that they will allow him  to remain in office until the end of term, a decision that places the nation in great danger; and all indications are that Democrats would have pushed for this mentally crippled man to be reelected had not it become increasingly obvious that he was headed for a major electoral defeat.

With the exit of candidate Biden, the Democrats turn to Kamala Harris.  I am certain that the Democrat Party Convention and their media allies will give Kamala a new birth and paint her in the most glowing terms.  Move over, Jeanne d’Arc, the republic’s new savior has arrived.  But Democrat leaders and the media know better.  Kamala is a extremely radical intellectual lightweight and totally unfit for the high office to which she aspires.  But today’s Democrats seem to care not about the truth.  They would foist a drooling idiot upon us so long as they believed he or she would help them retain the reins of power.

The decline of the Democrat Party makes me sad.  I was once a member of that party.  For the present it has been taken over by progressive radicals,  but I’m certain that a few stout hearts still beat beneath that crumbling façade.

Now is the time for all good Democrats to come to the aid of their party and throw the rascals out.  Restore your respect for truth.  In the long run, that is much more important than winning an election. 

You should continue to advocate for a big tent, but there should be no room for race-baiting and nihilistic violence in any American party.

The nation needs a good and loyal opposition.  Bring one back for us.
