I composed this blog post ten days ago. I am posting it this morning because yesterday the House of Representative’s Legal Advisory Group determined that the January 6 Committee was illegitimate and therefore the actions of this committee are null and void. Peter Novarro was sentenced to prison for failing to appear before this committee, and Steve Bannon has appealed his conviction on the same charge. What happens now? Bannon awaits the court’s decision.
On June 16, I wrote.
The legal doctrine of “The fruit of the poisonous tree” draws its name from the idea that the evidentary tree is is poisoned if the primary evidence is illegally obtained, therefore the fruit of the tree and any secondary evidence is likewise tainted and may not be used.
The House January 6 Committee was improperly constituted. Defying all precedent, Nancy Pelosi refused the House minority leader’s nomination of minority members to the committee and created an unbalanced committee consisting of seven Democrats and two renegade Republicans. The committee was poisoned. Any evidence or actions produced by this committee should be ignored. Nevertheless, the DOJ convicted Peter Novarro and Steve Bannon, Presidential advisors, for contempt of Congress following their failure to appear before the January 6 Committee. Novarro is currently in prison, and Bannon awaits incarceration.
This is an illustration of how Democrats ride roughshod over the law as they attempt to destroy Donald Trump and his MAGA followers. However, the House is now controlled by the Republicans, and there are indications that it may attempt to nullify the January 6 Committee’s actions.
