Trump Hate

In our men’s forum this morning (May 30) I stirred the pot by provoking a discussion on the relative merits of Joseph Biden and Donald Trump.  Not many favorable things were said about Biden, but Trump was thoroughly eviscerated.  Intense dislike for the man radiated from every corner of the room.

This is a group of about 18 to 20 men, mostly in their 70s and 80s.  If this was a representative group, it would appear that Biden’s reelection is assured.  However, it is probable these men are not representative of the general electorate.   We live in a very liberal county in a very liberal state.  Recent polling suggests that Biden and Trump are virtually tied at the national level, and Trump is ahead in key battleground states.

The disdain for Trump seemed to be visceral rather than based on reason.  The most revealing exchange occurred when I asked the men to forget Trump’s mouth and tell me which of his actions during the first three years of his Presidency bothered them most.  Only one thing was mentioned — the tax cut.

In my opinion, the reelection of Joseph Biden would be a catastrophe for our nation.  To those who hate Trump, I say “Squeeze your nostrils, and vote for him anyway.”

  1. I am of the opinion that there will be some sort of surprise awaiting the nation comes August at the Democratic convention. The reality being that a Biden presidency would almost certainly mean the 25th Amendment would be enacted and the VP would become the next President. No one that I’m aware of wants a Kamala Harris presidency; not the Squad not even Bernie Sanders. It would spell disaster for our nation.
