I’ve always had a level of respect for Bill Barr, our Attorney General under Donald Trump. I’ve always believed he and I are on the same side in defending Christendom against the raving hordes of progressive atheism. Nevertheless, in October 2020 I was terribly disappointed when Barr failed to confront an obvious lie by Joseph Biden. During the Presidential debate that month President Trump brought up recent revelations in the New York Post concerning Hunter Biden’s laptop. Joseph Biden responded by saying that the laptop story was fake news and pointed out that a number of former intelligence officials had labeled it as probable Russian disinformation.
FBI agents had taken possession of the laptop the preceding December, and they knew it was no fake. Barr also knew it. Why did he not state the truth? Why didn’t Christopher Wray back him up? If they had spoken up at that time it could have been of great help to President Trump’s campaign. Instead, they both chose to remain silent and thus allowed the lies to stand.
The relationship between Barr and Trump during the latter’s Presidency was anything but smooth. Barr seemed uncomfortable with Trump’s pettiness and non-predictability. Often he appeared to support the President, at otherr times he didn’t.
It is interesting to note Barr’s attitude about the 2024 Presidential contest. As I understand it, Barr thinks that reelecting Donald Trump is akin to playing Russian roulette, while reelecting Joe Biden will keep us on a sure path to destruction.
He says he will support the Republican ticket.
