I don’t remember the title or the author, but sometime in the 1950s I read a science fiction story in which the colored races of the world rose up in righteous anger and killed all the whites.

I believe there is a conscious or subliminal desire for white racial genocide on the part of some people.  They would probably deny it, but I think it’s true.

Such attitudes are not entirely strange or unprecedented.   During World War II the Nazis attempted to murder all European Jews.  At the same time, because of Japanese atrocities and our intense war propaganda, many Americans would have been happy to kill all the Japanese.  In 1804, after a slave revolt,  the Emperor Jacques I ordered the execution of all surviving whites in the land of Haiti.

There are strong anti-white feelings among many persons of other races.  There are good reasons for it.  During most of the last five hundred years white nations have attempted to dominate the world.  They were largely successful.  Though inferior in numbers, because of their superior technological and military acumen they managed to colonize America and Africa, conquer India, humiliate and exploit China, and generally lord it over all the earth. Their arrogance was unbounded.

It took the self-destructive effects of World Wars I and II to weaken the white grip. Since 1945 the tide of white power and oppression has largely receded, but it is not forgotten. 

In what is now the United States, Africans suffered centuries of slavery followed by another century of economic exploitation and second-class treatment.  The scars remain.  More recently there have been intense efforts to reverse the effects of these years of mistreatment. Civil rights laws were passed in an attempt to level the playing field for all citizens in our society, regardless of race, religion, or gender. Complementing these laws, affirmative action is the policy of favoring members of a disadvantaged group who currently suffer or historically have suffered from discrimination within a culture.  Using the principal of affirmative action, blacks have been given preferential treatment in college admissions, employment, etc. 

But for some American black leaders, that’s not enough.   They want massive reparations to be paid for all those years of uncompensated black labor.

We cannot erase history.  The people whom blacks wish to charge today are not the ones who benefited from slavery.  To pursue the path of reparations would only serve to cause more injustice and racial discord.  Those who argue for reparations probably wish to punish all whites, guilty or not, and reward all blacks, needy or not.

It is well to remember that white people do not have a monopoly on bad behavior.  Consider the murderous Mogol armies of Genghis Khan and those of the Islamic sultanates.  What about the depredations of the Zulus against other African tribes?  And blacks are the ones who captured other blacks and sold them into slavery. When you think of the noble American Indian, also remember their internecine tribal warfare, the savagery of the Comanches, and the bloody practices of the Aztecs and Mayans. 

All men are prone to evil, and no race consists entirely of persons without sin. If any race or nation has the power to dominate and exploit you, it probably will. For many centuries whites had that power. Today they no longer have that power or choose not to use it.

Yes, the white race is guilty of much, but reparations smack of revenge rather than justice. 

Stop trying to “get whitey” and work together with all people of good will to build a better society.
