We Americans should avoid boastful arrogance.  It is proper for us to take pride in the skill and bravery of our armed forces, but I believe we should show compassion for those Iranian soldiers and sailors who were led by their mad leaders into the path of death and destruction.  I do not doubt these Iranian’s courage and competence, but they were overwhelmed by our technological brilliance.  I hope that they will now overthrow their oppressive leaders and band with their civilian brothers to build a new and prosperous nation.

We pray that the war in Iran will soon end.  As it does, our fervent wish is for an era of peace in the Middle East.  There has been more than a century of conflict.
