Last Wednesday I received a profound shock. The Christian community lost a hero.
As many of you realize, we are involved in a struggle for the soul of America. On one side are those who are committed to the Judeo-Chistian ethos. I’m one of them. We are imperfect people. Many of us are Christians, but not all profess Christ as savior. However, we are united in wishing to preserve Western Civilization along with the rules of morality that protect us from social chaos.
On the other side are those who march toward a “new morality”, the progressives’ utopian fantasy of a genderless, judgement-less civilization where man makes his own rules, and the only sin is to argue for absolute truth and to say that some particular sexual perversion is wrong.
These progressives hate us traditionalists. They regard our Bible teaching as hate speech. In some Western countries you are no longer allowed to read Bible passages in public.
Over the past half-decade a young evangelical layman made it his life mission to carry the Biblical message to American college campuses. He stressed faith and family. He emphasized the importance and sanctity of marriage. He was willing to dialog with anyone. He attracted many thousands of followers. He also attracted the haters.
Interestingly, this young man’s name was Kirk, the Scottish word for church.
Last Wednesday, September 10, 2025, an assassin gunned this young man down.
He left a young wife and two children, 1 and 3 years old.
He was a Christian martyr. He gave his life for his faith.
On Friday evening his widow Erika Kirk had the courage and strength to address a message to the nation. It was profoundly moving. I have never seen a better defense of Christian faith and values – especially in a time of stress and sorrow. Please, I urge you, listen to her message. It’s one that you will never forget.
Thank you Erika.
Thank you Charlie Kirk.
