I believe that Donald Trump wishes to be remembered for many things. He hopes to restore the America he remembers as a youth, a nation strong, respected, and a leader of the free world. He also desires to be known as “The Peacemaker.”
That is a noble ambition. It is the antithesis of seeking an image of warrior king, and his quest for success in his peacemaking efforts redounds to his credit.
In a few days he will encounter his most difficult peacemaking task thus far — ending the Russian-Ukrainian war. Most leaders would avoid a face to face meeting with the principal villain in this conflict unless assured beforehand of strong prospects of success. Trump has no such assurance. His willingness to risk his reputation in search of peace in the Ukraine appears to confirm his absolute sincerity.
He earnestly desires to end the bloodshed.
May Godspeed his efforts.
