Donald Trump strides across our twenty-first century landscape like a giant. Love him or hate him, there is no one else like him, and few men have had a comparative impact in such a brief time upon the public stage.
He exudes vitality, and in this way he appears to match the boundless energy of Napoleon Bonaparte and Teddy Roosevelt.
He is an outsider and a disruptor like President Andrew Jackson, and like Jackson, the establishment despises him.
Even his admirers recognize that he is a man with many personal peccadilloes such as braggadocio and truth-stretching, but they forgive him. To them, his virtues far outweigh his faults.
He has received more hate, and perhaps more love, than any President since Abraham Lincoln. There are those who wish to destroy him. But like Lincoln, if Trump was assassinated tomorrow, his followers would immediately elevate him to sainthood.
As President, Trump has made many bold moves. He is trying to completely rebuild America in a way to match the idealistic images of his youth. He is attempting to revamp world trade, revive American industries, and restore the economic health and spirit of America’s middle class. Many of his actions run counter to the theories of so-called experts, but Trump charges ahead.
Time will tell who is correct, Trump or the experts. If Trump is wrong, his forecast of an American golden age will not happen, and we are likely to experience an economic recession. We should know the answer by the 2026 midterms, or, at the latest, the 2028 general election.
Fasten your seatbelts.
