It saddened me to learn that Dick Cheney intends to vote for Kamala Harris.  I’ve always respected our former vice-president as a patriot and straight shooter.  Now Cheney says that Trump tried to steal the last election and is the greatest threat to our republic in our nation’s history.

I’m convinced that Dick Cheney is wrong.  The Democrats stole the last election, and Trump was trying to prove that fact.  Unfortunately, our convoluted election laws made it almost impossible for a timely win in the courts, and the President’s effort to delay certification led to his massive Washington rally on January 6, 2021.  A few supporters along with some professional agitators took things too far that day.  Mayhem was the result, but there was never a threat of insurrection.

Dick Cheney’s position is influenced by the ongoing feud between his daughter Liz Cheney and Trump. Liz absolutely hates Trump. She recently described him as a “depraved human being” and labeled Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, “misogynistic pigs.”  

I believe Liz Chaney’s remarks are despicable.  I lost all respect for her when she cooperated with Nancy Pelosi and co-chaired the House January 6 Committee.  The star chamber-like proceedings of that committee were an affront to American democracy.  No wonder the good citizens of Wyoming voted Liz out of office, with two-thirds of the state’s Republicans choosing another candidate in the 2022 primary.

Liz Chaney and her progressive Democrat friends are a far greater threat to the republic than Donald Trump ever was or will be.
