I wrote this on the morning of May 31, 2024.
A few minutes ago I watched as Donald Trump began a news conference at Trump Tower in New York City. I was immediately struck by the veritable avalanche of words and thoughts from the former President as he spoke about the just concluded hush money trial and his wrongful conviction. His thoughts were unorganized and often disconnected. I felt a great deal of sympathy for the man as he struggled to express his frustration and disappointment over the trial’s outcome. It was painful, and I soon stopped listening.
I am a supporter of Donald Trump. I hope and pray that he wins the Presidential election in November 2024. I do believe, however, that he has a serious handicap. In a May 2020 blog, I described a speaking disability that I called Dysspeakia I invented this name for this neurological condition and placed it in a class with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. Dysspeakia causes a person great difficulty in expressing their thoughts in a coherent manner. Symptoms include excessive wordiness, repetition, inaccurate phraseology, carelessness with facts, and frequent hyperbole. Trump has this ailment, and it was on full display in this news conference.
None of these neurological disorders should be considered a reflection on a person’s basic intelligence or essential worthiness. I know persons with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia who are absolutely brilliant. Judge an individual by his or her works, and give extra credit to the man or woman who overcomes disabilities such as these and goes on to achieve great things.
I favor our President, a man with severe Dysspeakia, over the prevaricators and their syncophantic media supporters who seek to tear him down.
