Doomsayers

Democrat Party spokespersons and some academics are predicting the end of democracy should former President Trump win in November.  At the same time, conservatives are forecasting the destruction of our nation should the progressives remain in control for another four years.  Both sides are describing the forthcoming general election as perhaps the most consequential event in American history.  Never since the Civil War have our citizens appear to be more divided.

As a student of history, I believe the claims of doom are a bit hyperbolic.  Excepting some earth changing event such as an atomic war or a meteor strike, it is likely that the United States will continue to survive for another century or so.  But what will be its condition?

A leftist progressive win will probably mean a further and faster advance down the road to Gomorrah.  The assault on what remains of our Judeo-Christian ethics and world-view will be intensified. Society would likely be dominated by those in search of a hedonistic nirvana; and in a few years America would no longer be the land of our forefather’s dream, perhaps never to recover.

If Trump is the victor, I believe there would be hard right turn against the leftist progressive movement.  Though a man of many flaws, villified by the mainstream media, I believe Trump is instinctively attracted to the Judeo-Christian ethos, and he honors the vision of our founding fathers.  Under his leadership there could be a reversal of the trend toward decadence and a restoration of our moral sinews.  In my opinion, is no reason to fear that Trump would fail to release the reins of power once his time in office was done.  At that time, we should pray for a worthy successor.

I’m for Trump, and it is difficult for me to understand how committed Christians can be otherwise.

Pray for our nation.
