Many years ago Al Capp created a cartoon character named Fearless Fosdick, an obvious spoof of fictional detective Dick Tracy. Fearless was extremely obsessive in his pursuit of justice and enforcing the law. I distinctly rememember the case of the poisoned beans. Somehow a can of poisoned beans had been put in the market and the police were instructed to prevent anyone from eating it. Fearless Fosdick’s solution was to shoot anyone seen in possession of a can of beans. In scenes reminiscent of prohibition, bean-easies sprang up in all the major cities, and citizens would throw away steaks and whiskey to get to the precious beans.

Today’s Democrat backed district attorneys remind me of Fearless Fosdick. They trample on legal precedent in pursuit of Trump and his backers for fear that Trump might break laws and possibly destroy representative government should he re-win the Presidency.
