Impeachment Inquiry

Speaker McCarthy recently announced an impeachment inquiry regarding President Biden. Many people, including most Democrats and their supporters in the media, describe the inquiry as a waste of time and totally unjustified.

What are some charges against Joseph Biden and his supporters’ response:

Charge 1 – Bank records thus far uncovered indicate that more than 20 million dollars in payments from various foreign entities were divided between various Biden family members through shell companies.  What services were provided by the Biden family?

Response:  There is no direct evidence that Joseph Biden received any of these funds.

Charge 2:  A trusted FBI informant alleged that a Ukrainian businessman told him that he paid five million in bribe money to both Hunter and father Joseph Biden to call off an investigation into Burisma, the Ukrainian oil company that hired Hunter.

Response:  Why should we believe this Ukrainian businessman?

Charge 3: Multiple business associates of Hunter Biden, including Devon Archer and Tony Bobulinski, say they witnessed Joseph Biden interacting with Hunter’s foreign business contacts by phone or meeting with them in various locales.

Response:  Perhaps they were discussing the weather.

Charge 4:  The Treasury Department reports that more than 150 foreign business transactions involving members of the Biden family were flagged as suspicious by US Banks.

Response:  The suspicious activity reports do not prove any wrongdoing.

Charge 5:  As Vice-President and Obama’s front man on foreign policy, Biden demanded that the Ukrainian government dismiss their AG, Viktor Shokin, in return for over a billion in aid money.  Biden’s accusers say that Shokin’s dismissal was because of his investigation of Burisma, the company where Hunter Biden was employed.  Now out of office, Shokin is accusing Joseph Biden of serious crimes, even an attempt to have him murdered.

Response:  According to various sources, Shokin is totally corrupt, and his dismissal was being pushed for by the EU and the World Bank as well as the United States.  Why should we give credence to any of Shokin’s charges against Joseph Biden?

Charge 6:  Hunter Biden was hired by a Ukrainian oil company despite being known as a drug addict and having no experience in the energy business.  Hunter also accompanied his father on many VP flights to China, Russia, and elsewhere and met with business  persons in those countries. It is obvious that foreign interests were trying to exploit Hunter to gain access to his father.

Response:  Joseph Biden loves his son and supports him.  There is no evidence that anyone was successful in using Hunter to affect US foreign policy.

Charge 7:  Hunter Biden has been under investigation for several years.  Despite strong evidence of tax fraud, gun violations and other serious felonies, the DOJ allowed most of these cases to slide past the statute of limitations.  Finally, the DOJ appeared ready to drop all remaining charges against Hunter in return for a guilty plea on a few misdemeanors.  When that deal fell apart before a Delaware judge, the DOJ  appointed the United States Attorney who had negotiated that deal as special counselor to further investigate Hunter Biden.  To most observers, this appeared to be a blatant attempt to use the special counselor gambit to take over the investigation and block similar inquiries being conducted by House Committees.  A formal House impeachment inquiry would provide a way around this impasse.

Response:  Why not give Special Counselor Weiss a chance?

CONCLUSION:  In my view, there is sufficient evidence for the House of Representatives to launch an impeachment inquiry into the activities of Joseph Biden.  I realize that the inquiry may or may not lead to impeachment, and even if he is impeached the Democrat controlled Senate is almost certain to acquit him. Nevertheless, I believe it necessary for the House to expose the corruption in the Biden administration and thereby convince the American people to throw the rascals out.
