Faith, HOPE, and Love

Who can forget the Apostle Paul’s beautiful paean to Faith, Hope, and Love, with a special emphasis on Love.

Today, I wish to emphasize hope.

These are dark and troubled times. We are engaged in a great spiritual battle for the soul of our nation. At times I feel as Lot and his family must have felt as godless hedonists invaded their city and seized the reins of political power. It’s a cause for sadness. It’s also time for us to stand with our Christian brothers and sisters and confront the enemy. With God’s help, we shall prevail.

And as the storm whirls around us, let us take comfort in the words of this old song:

Soft as the voice of an angel,
Breathing a lesson unheard,
Hope with a gentle persuasion
Whispers her comforting word:
Wait till the nighttime is over,
Wait till the tempest is done,
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
After the darkness is gone.

Refrain:
Whispering hope, oh, how welcome thy voice,
Making my heart in its sorrow rejoice.
