In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1.

And what a marvelous creation it is.

Scientific observations reveal that God breathed the universe into being some 13.8 billion years ago. Astronomers on Earth can turn their telescopes and peer 13.8 billion light years in every direction. This makes a sphere of observation with a radius of 13.8 billion light years. But the universe is expanding, and stars we now see at the edge of our observations have continued to move further and further away from during the 13.8 billion years the light from these distant stars has been travelling toward Earth. Scientist thus calculate that the diameter of the known universe is now approximately 93 billion light years. And remember, light travels at the speed of 186,000 miles per second, and there are 31,536,000 seconds in a year.

Can you begin to grasp the immensty of God’s creation? These distancies are beyond imagining.

When I consider Thy heavens, the works of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou dost take thought of him? And the son of man, that Thou dost care for him? Psalm 8:3-4
